At first I was pissed but I got over it and start learning academically about poems and realized just how hard good poetry is to write. I learned a great deal about it though it's not the most sought after knowledge and really hasn't paid much back. You can't just write a bunch of tripe using poetic themes and language and expect fellow wordsmiths to be to impressed. What I found out is unless you are a complete poetic genius you're not going to make any money out of it nor gain literary prestige. If you ARE a complete poetic genius you're still not going to make money out of it. The love poems threads has sparks of poetic progress but so far it's more of a kitschy self parody compared to publishable stuff. Eliminate abstractions (things not words) and avoid saddle bagging your poems with adverbs and basic love cliches. There. Now go out there an write me something that doesn't make me want to stab someone in the hand with a fork.
Subject: RE: best threads this summer From: types of poetry Email: Date: 03-Aug-10 ^^Hello professor I found this poem in the prestigious POETRY magazine founded by HarrietMonroe in 1912 in Chicago. Do you mean that the poems thread should be filled with poems like this? Majolica Lament, or "Austrolopithecus" the farmer in the dell/ the farmer in the dell/Ox chip gastrology/The farmer in the dell the farmer takes a wife/ the farmer takes a wife/ Pupa reconnaissance/the farmer takes a wife the wife takes a child/ the wife takes a child/Sweetbread electrolyte/ the wife takes a child the child takes a nurse/ the child takes a nurse/ Cheeze futz habitual/ the child takes a nurse the nurse takes a cow/ the nurse takes a cow/ Flatworm collateral/ the nurse takes a cow." by Linda Kunhardt may 2010 POETRY magazine ------------------------------------------------------- you know you have to practically be the next US Poet Laureate to be published in this rag. And money---since when does any real poet expect to get money out of her writing. i certainly don't.---so this absolutely oretentitious obnoxiously black turtleneck, beret, clove cigarette cliche of a poem/poetess--what is she to your sensibilities on the Craft and Art of Poesie. what do money and poetry have anything to do with each other??
